95.4-MW Wind Farm Being Built in Sweden

Renewable Energy Systems Group (RES) and its subsidiary RES Skandinavien AB have announced that they will start construction on the 95.4-megawatt (MW) Havsnas wind farm. RES has developed and will construct and operate the project.

Havsnäs will be the largest onshore wind farm in Sweden. RES will construct the project using 48 Vestas V-90 wind turbines. Construction will start in April 2008 and commercial operation will start in phases from November 2009 to March 2010. The project, which will be located at Strömsund, is an example of the importance of strong local support for continued development of onshore wind power in Sweden, according to RES.
“Havsnäs is a milestone in the Swedish wind energy market…With the sustained support of the Government, this project can lay the ground for future investment as the market enters a more large-scale phase of its development,” said Mike O’Neill, Commercial Director of the RES Group.
