8-MW Wind Project Planned in Modave

Utility group Electrabel has revealed plans to invest in the construction of a wind farm near the city of Liege in the municipality of Modave. The Les Trinitaires wind farm will use four 2-3 megawatt (MW) machines and a total installed power of 8-12 MW.

The €16 million [US $20.77 million] wind farm should enter into service in spring 2011. Annually, the four machines should produce some 22,000 megawatt-hours annually, the company said.

Electrabel said that the overall execution of its sustainable development plan will see the company invest €1.3 billion [US $1.68 billion] in the construction of 600 MW of renewable energy in Belgium by 2015.
