70 MW Wind Power Potential in NY

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] EverPower Wind is developing a wind energy project in Steuben County, New York. The 70 MW project is the second project under active development by the Company, the other project being a 50 MW wind project in Cattaraugus County, New York. EverPower installed a meteorological tower in 2004 to being recording wind data, and the company believes that there are average wind speeds of 7 to 7.5 meters per second at the 7,000-acre site. If the wind data proves that Howard is a good potential site for energy production, EverPower plans to begin construction in 2006 and have the plant operational by 2007. Energy produced by the plant would be accepted toward the state’s goals for renewable portfolio standards.
