3TIER Forecasting for 3000 MW of Wind Energy

3TIER Inc. is now providing operational wind energy forecasts for more than 3000 megawatts (MW) of installed wind energy capacity throughout North America.

This is due to the recent addition of the company’s first project in Canada, the 99 MW St. Leon wind energy project in Manitoba, Canada, along with projects in Montana, Washington, New York, Wyoming, Oklahoma and Texas. Numerous recent studies have shown that wind energy forecasting is an essential part of integrating this intermittent resource. “The rapid growth of 3TIER’s forecast business underscores the increasing reliance on wind energy forecasting for successful integration of this energy resource,” said Pascal Storck, President of 3TIER North America. In addition to wind energy forecasting, 3TIER also provides large-scale, scientifically based renewable energy forecasting and assessment services for hydro and solar energy projects worldwide. Founded in 1999, Seattle-based 3TIER employs scientists and engineers who develop and manage sophisticated environmental prediction systems using advanced computing technologies and proprietary methodologies.
