Wilson Seeks Equal Access to Grid for Renewable Energy

Britains Energy Minister Brian Wilson intends to level the playing field for all power generators , giving Renewable Energy providers equal access to the country’s power grid.

January 27, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] Currently, the market in Scotland operates under different arrangements from those in England and Wales. “The introduction of BETTA will create a unified electricity market across Great Britain. It will ensure that all generators have equal access to the Grid and have the opportunity to sell into the rest of the GB market on a level playing field. We must assess this issue in light of the Government’s targets for the development of Renewable Eenergy generation across GB. We must be sure that its impact does not create barriers to the development of renewables in peripheral and offshore areas.”
