UK Renewables Targets Lowered?

February 19, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] According to a published report by the British Broadcasting Company (BBC), Britain’s Prime Minister Tony Blair has blocked plans to increase the production of renewable electricity in Britain. The country’s energy agency had planned to set a 20 percent renewables requirement in a report due later this month, but apparently Blair has quashed that effort. According to the BBC’s report, and a source close to SolarAccess.com, the target has been dropped from the final draft of a report after objections from Britain’s Treasury Department.
