Toyota Hybrid Technology for Ford Vehicles

March 17, 2004 [] In a development that sends a clear signal as to who is on top with respect to hybrid engine technology, Toyota Motor Corporation and Ford Motor Company have finalized new licensing agreements for hybrid systems and emissions purification patents. Under the agreements, Toyota’s hybrid system control technology patents, among a number of patents resulting from their hybrid system development, were licensed for use in Ford’s own hybrid system, which is under development. Toyota recently overtook Ford to become the world’s second largest automaker and is putting much of their R&D efforts into improving and perfecting hybrid engine technology.
