This Is the Next Step for Energy Storage in South Australia

Details were released yesterday for the South Australia government’s call for more projects that can contribute to making renewable energy generation on demand and that will provide energy storage in the state.

According to the South Australia Premier’s office, the key objectives of the firming renewable generation call for proposals are to incentivize investment in construction and operation of plant or equipment that incorporates technologies to firm-up intermittent renewable generation and contribute to making South Australian renewable energy available on demand.

In addition, the objectives of the bulk energy storage call for proposals are to incentivize investment in construction and operation of plant and equipment that will provide substantial energy storage and/or synchronous inertia in South Australia, and to provide on-demand electricity to the network, improve system security and reliability, competition and support further renewable energy development.

Applications for funding are due by September 28.
