Sharp Wins Award for its “SOLA IN NOLA” Solar Build Event

Huntington Beach, California [] Sharp Electronics Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of Sharp Corporation, Osaka, Japan recently won a Stevie Award for “Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program” in The 2007 American Business Awards. Sharp was honored for its “SOLA in NOLA” event, a solar build project that benefited residents of New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward who were affected by Hurricane Katrina. The award was accepted by Ron Kenedi, vice president of Sharp’s Solar Energy Solutions Group, who said, “We hope that the efforts we made will serve as an example that helps accelerate the rebuilding of New Orleans with clean, green technology.” Sharp donated and installed ten solar electric systems that will supply a lifetime of free, clean energy and provide a shining example to other residents of the power of solar electricity.
