SEI Initiates Study on VRB-ESS for Irish Wind Market

Vancouver, BC [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] VRB Power Systems Inc. announced that Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) and Tapbury Management Limited are funding a study to quantify the full potential economic benefits of coupling Vanadium Redox Batteries (VRB) with wind farms in Ireland. The study will focus on Sorne Hill Windfarm, the recently commissioned 32-megawatt (MW) windfarm in County Donegal that is managed by Tapbury. In particular, it will study the projected wind output from Phase II at Sorne, which has an additional 6.9 MW of wind power due to be installed in Fall 2007. The benefits of controlled output as well as additional output that will accrue from coupling a 12 MWh VRB-ESS to Phase II will be addressed.
