RusHydro Plans Pumped-Storage Hydropower plant

Russian hydropower producer RusHydro plans to start building a pumped-storage hydropower plant in the Leningrad Region of Russia some time between September and November, wire services reported.

The hydro project is planned to have a capacity of 1,560 MW and is expected to annually produce 2.9 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of power, reports indicate.

The power plant is to be located 100 kilometers away from St. Petersburg.

In other news, RusHydro recently announced the creation of a new wholly-owned subsidiary, JSC Malye GES Altaya.

The subsidiary will oversee construction of a pilot small hydropower project in the Altay Republic.
