Record U.S. Ethanol Production in April

The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) announced that the U.S. ethanol industry set an all-time monthly production record in April of 218,000 barrels per day (b/d), according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Washington, DC – June 30, 2004 [] Production was up 22 percent compared to last April when 179,000 b/d of ethanol were produced. The ethanol industry is expected to produce more than 3.3 billion gallons in 2004, up from 2.81 billion gallons in 2003. Currently, 78 ethanol plants have the capacity to produce more than 3.3 billion gallons annually. Ten additional plants under construction should add over 400 million gallons of annual production capacity.
