Program Seeks Renewable Energy Broker

September 13, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC) issued a request for proposals from organizations that can assist the Renewable Energy Trust by brokering sales of Renewable Energy Certificates (REC). The Trust has provided financial support to a number of new renewable facilities in Massachusetts and New England. Support for some of the projects was provided with the expectation that the Trust would receive RECs as a return on investment. MTC is looking for an organization to market and transact the sale of these anticipated RECs for the Trust over a period of two years. The first facility MTC expects to receive certificates from in October of 2004 is a landfill gas to electricity project that is eligible for the Massachusetts RPS. MTC expects to sell up to 5400 RECs on a quarterly basis. In subsequent years MTC expects to receive additional RECs from other renewable power projects, increasing the volume of RECs transacted.
