New Partnership Spurs International RE Conference

PennWell Corporation has established a partnership with the American Council for Renewable Energy (ACRE) for the creation of POWER-GEN Renewable Energy, an international conference and exhibition to be held at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 1-3, 2004.

Las Vegas, Nevada – May 16, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] Joining PennWell’s leading lineup of global power events, POWER-GEN Renewable Energy will bring together the Renewable Energy (wind, solar, hydropower, geothermal energy, ocean/tidal, and biomass), renewable fuels (biofuels, ethanol, methanol, and biodiesel), and emerging energy technology (hydrogen systems, fuel cells, microturbines and energy storage) sectors of the energy industry to discuss the key technical, regulatory, structural, economic and market issues impacting their commercial future. In partnership with ACRE, the event will host a comprehensive conference program featuring multiple tracks of sessions covering technology and business/infrastructure issues, plus an all-renewables exhibition showcasing the latest products and services affecting customers in the Renewable Energy market. “Renewable Energy is experiencing tremendous growth in the U.S., but the renewables industry lacks a comprehensive event designed to bring all parties — end users, technology and service providers, policy makers, financiers, regulators — together in one place to discuss critical cross-cutting issues,” said Richard Baker, Group Publisher for PennWell Corporation’s Global Energy Division. “ACRE, which has rapidly emerged as a strong proponent of the Renewable Energy sector in the U.S., recognized this need and will be instrumental in helping position POWER-GEN Renewable Energy as the premier event for bringing technology providers together with end user customers.” ACRE, a nonprofit organization based in Washington D.C., was founded in 2001 to bring Renewable Energy into the mainstream of America’s economy. ACRE’s mission is to foster public awareness of Renewable Energy at a level that has not been achieved in the past. ACRE’s advisory board and board of directors comprise many of the world’s thought leaders with respect to Renewable Energy and sustainable development. POWER-GEN Renewable Energy is also supported by the New Uses Council, National Hydropower Association, Solar Electric Power Association, National Hydrogen Association, Solar Energy Industries Association and Geothermal Energy Association. “There are hundreds of companies supplying Renewable Energy technology, systems, and services in the U.S. today, and several thousand prospective end users including utilities, industrials, building owners, developers, and transportation companies,” said Michael Eckhart, chairman of ACRE. “Our goal for this trade show is to bring all of the technologies together in one event, so that senior people in customer organizations can see the full range of solutions in one place. It should be a very exciting and informative event.”
