New Inverter for Small Wind Turbines

Calgary, Canada-based Sustainable Energy Technologies Ltd. unveiled this week a new inverter designed for grid connected small wind turbines. It relies on a similar power electronics platform as the company’s solar photovoltaic (PV) inverters but applies new software changes specific to wind power applications. Michael Carten President and CEO of the company said their goal has been to design a range of electronics for the distributed and renewable energy markets that rely on a similar cross-platform design. With the introduction of their small wind inverter, Carten says they’re now among only a small handful of companies offering power electronics solutions for all the major renewable and alternative energy technologies. He also expects to see robust growth in the North American small wind market.
