LEDs Light California Streets

2002-03-19 [SolarAccess.com] Newly installed, Light Emitting Diode (LED) traffic signals and pedestrian lights will reduce California’s energy needs by nearly 10 MW, enough energy to power 10,000 homes. Through a program offered by the California Energy Commission, over 236,780 old incandescent lights have been replaced in 80 communities. The LED lights are brighter, last longer and can be seen easier in the fog.
