[] The Home Depot is implementing energy-saving measures in all of its US stores, store support facilities and in more than 100 Canadian stores and will educate consumers about products and services that help conserve natural resources and save money on energy bills Sundays in September at 2 pm. The company estimates that by reducing its ceiling lights and lighting displays that it will save approximately 15 million kWh per month, enough to power 17,400 homes per month. The company further advises energy saving measures: use compact fluorescent bulbs; turn off unused lights; clean or replace AC air filters; use appliances and electronics efficiently; turn off computers and office equipment; install programmable thermostats and ceiling fans, and seal ducts with insulation. ENERGY STAR-qualified appliances and products use 10 to 50 percent less energy and water than standard models.
