Hydrogen Fueling Station Built in California

Harvest Energy Technology, Inc., a leading fuel processor development company, has delivered to Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. a 100 kW hydrogen generating system for a hydrogen and compressed natural gas vehicle fueling station.

SUN VALLEY, California – June 6, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] The vehicle fueling station, to be located in Las Vegas, Nevada, is part of a United States Department of Energy sponsored hydrogen demonstration project being built by Air Products. The hydrogen generating system uses a proprietary fuel processor developed by Harvest Energy Technology. The hydrogen generation system was built in a collaborative effort with Air Products, specifically for use in hydrogen fueling applications. The hydrogen generator will provide distributed, on-site hydrogen, generated from natural gas for a multi-purpose fueling system capable of dispensing hydrogen to power vehicles. The hydrogen generator will also supply hydrogen to a stationary 50 kW PEM fuel cell, developed by Plug Power, Inc., to demonstrate on-site electric power production. This demonstration project will also serve to promote the development of a hydrogen infrastructure to assist in the commercialization of fuel cell powered vehicles in the United States. The vehicle fueling station and overall project is targeted to be fully operational during 2002’s fourth quarter. The demonstration project is a 50/50 cost-shared venture between the U.S. Department of Energy’s Nevada Operations Office and Air Products, and includes the participation of Plug Power and the City of Las Vegas, Nevada.
