Hybrid Solar/Fuel Cells in the Classroom

February 27, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] The US Fuel Cell Council teamed up with the Sacramento Engineering Technology Regional Consortium (SETRC) and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) on February 6th to conduct a one day workshop on Hybrid Solar/Fuel Cell Technology for middle and high school teachers. Over thirty educators attended the “Powering the Future: Energy Forum for Educators” workshop to learn from energy experts how educators and students can contribute to the energy solution. Robert Wichert, Technical Director of the US Fuel Cell Council (USFCC), assisted teachers in assembling a Hybrid Solar/Fuel Cell Car Kit and conducted various experiments with curriculum models that teachers can integrate into classroom activities. Each teacher also received a Hybrid Solar/Fuel Cell Car Kit and a California Fuel Cell Partnership teacher kit.
