Hybrid HUMVEE Tested by U.S. Army

September 3, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] Two hybrid electric High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HUMVEE), developed and produced by PEI Electronics, a unit of Integrated Defense Technologies, Inc. and powered by UQM electric propulsion motors, generators and power electronic inverters are being delivered to the U. S. Army for performance testing and evaluation at the Yuma Proving Grounds. Two previously delivered hybrid electric HMMWVs have been undergoing rigorous testing at Aberdeen Proving Grounds since June. The hybrid electric HMMWVs incorporate one 75 kW UQM generator and two 75 kW UQM propulsion motors, one per axle.
