Hungarian Solar Panel Maker Increases Global Production

Budapest, Hungary [] Hungarian alternative energy investment firm Genesis Energy is planning to reach a worldwide market share of 4-8% in solar panel production with the construction of a Euro 99.5 million [US$135 million] solar panel factory with an annual output of 80 MWp. Construction is to start in September this year, and will be completed in 18 months, with another six months needed to ramp up production to full capacity. The factories will produce large, amorphous silicon-based solar panels using thin-film technology. These panels, unlike other types of solar batteries, are transparent, their energy sufficiency is slightly better than its competitors’ when installed on large surfaces, while the production cost is about 40% lower.
