Green Tags Brokerage Open West Coast Office

Building on their East Coast success, Evolution Markets launched new brokerage services from its new office in San Francisco, California for the national green tag and West Coast regional compliance renewable energy and emissions trading markets. Evolution Markets has also hired an experienced commodities trader to lead the West Coast operations.

San Francisco, California – February 23, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] With this expansion, Evolution Markets will bolster its coverage of the voluntary market for renewable energy certificates (RECs), including providing assistance to renewable energy project developers to market their green attributes and working closely with utilities, large corporations, local governments, and other institutions to execute green power procurement strategies. The West Coast expansion looks to build on the firm’s success in the U.S. green tag market, having been voted “Renewable Energy Certificates (U.S.) — Best Broker” in the 2003 Environmental Finance magazine industry survey. “Much of the renewable energy project development is occurring in the Western half of the U.S., and some of the more active voluntary buyers of green certificates are looking to this region as a source of supply,” said Peter Zaborowsky, Managing Director of Evolution Markets. “Having a local presence on the West Coast should enhance our ability to serve the voluntary market for renewable energy certificates. We also anticipate the development of Western compliance markets for green tags, making our San Francisco office strategically located for the market’s future growth.” In addition, Evolution Markets’ San Francisco office will provide brokerage services for regional emissions trading markets, include emissions reduction certificate (ERC) and regional NOx markets in the Western U.S. Brokerage service for the compliance driven REC markets in Texas and the Northeast will continue to be based in New York. Leading the West Coast operations for Evolution Markets is Lenny Hochschild, a veteran energy and metals commodity trader. Hochschild, a Director of Environmental Markets, joins Evolution Markets from American Electric Power, where he specialized in deal origination for Synfuel and biomass contracts. In addition, Hochschild has experience trading coal, base metals, and precious metals.
