Future Hydrogen Scenarios Presented in WIRED

March 21, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] In “How Hydrogen Can Save America,” noted futurist Peter Schwartz, formerly head of planning for the Royal Dutch/Shell, lays out a 5-step program to convert the U.S. to a hydrogen economy in the April issue of WIRED. In his overview, he warns that the cost of oil dependence has never been so clear. According to Schwartz, what had been largely an environmental issue has suddenly become a deadly serious strategic threat, and oil is an indulgence we can no longer afford, not just because it will run out or turn the planet into a sauna, but because it inexorably leads to global conflict. Schwartz suggests a five point plan to shift the U.S. to a hydrogen economy over the next ten years.
