Fujitsu Selects UTC Power Fuel Cell for Silicon Valley Campus

Sunnyvale, California [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Fujitsu America, Inc. has selected UTC Power, a United Technologies company, to provide a PureCell Model 200 fuel cell to power and heat a portion of its Silicon Valley Campus located in Sunnyvale, California. UTC Power also will service the unit for 15 years. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Fujitsu expects this fuel cell unit to pay for itself in about three years because of the energy savings it will generate. The PureCell system will produce 200 kilowatts of assured power plus 870,000 Btu/hour of heat for combined heat and power applications. This is approximately 10 percent of the energy required by the Campus.
