France Aims for Renewable Energy

The Rhone-Alpes region of southeastern France has just been awarded the Pole of Competitiveness status concerning New Energy Technologies by the French government, which recognizes the region’s leading position in Europe in the field. For its part, ERAI (the region’s international business development agency) successfully invited buyers and experts to take part in the Renewable Energies Trade Fair 2005 in Lyons last April. The next fair will be held in 2007. The Rhone-Alpes regional authority set up the Renewable Energies and Energy Conservation Cluster initiative in 2004, which is part of the region’s drive towards promoting energy-efficient solutions and towards protecting the environment.
