Farm Bill Forums Offer Renewable Energy Input

[] The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is conducting public discussion sessions throughout the country regarding the upcoming reauthorization of the 2002 Farm Bill expected sometime in 2007. This offers an opportunity for discussions and suggestions to USDA staff regarding the Farm Bill’s Energy and Conservation Titles in the bill. These sections represent some key opportunities for federal support of renewable energy programs and grants. It should be noted, according to the Environmental and Energy Study Institute, that the Agriculture Appropriations Bill that just came out of conference (but has not been voted on yet) which appears to eliminate funds for a Renewable Energy Program for FY07. The next Farm Bill forum takes place in the Boston Public Library, Boston, Massachusetts, Oct. 28, 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. (EDT) with Food Nutrition and Consumer Services Under Secretary Eric Bost.
