Energy Bill Update

Despite a last minute effort yesterday from the Bush Administration to pull the contentious MTBE liability protection off the table, Senate Republicans have decided against further pursuing the Energy Bill before they break for the Congressional recess, according to reports from the Reuters news agency. While the overarching legislation gained the support of the main Washington D.C. renewable energy trade associations for a variety of beneficial legislation, the bill also earned the scorn of other renewable energy, environmental, and policy groups, due to lavish subsides to the fossil fuel, and nuclear industries, while doing little to improve pollution and energy efficiency.
