“CleanTech” Investing Remains Strong

January 3, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] While the venture capital activity in North America continued to slow – capital invested in the US dropped by 26 percent to US$4.48 billion in Q3 from Q2, the decline in so called cleantech investment activity was less dramatic thus increasing cleantech’s relative share of overall venture capital funding. Companies developing and commercializing clean technology received 7.1 percent of all North American venture capital investments in Q3 2002, up from 6.3 percent in Q2 and 2.6 percent in Q1. Investors placed US$318.5 million into Q3 cleantech investments versus US$375.9 million in Q2, representing a decline of 15 percent.
