Certification for Solar Energy Installers Gains Momentum

The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) announced the successful completion of a second round of its Solar PV Installer Certification Exam. As a result of the exam, 44 additional individuals have now become NABCEP certified. This brings the total number of NABCEP certified installers across the United States to 106.

Malta, NY – May 25, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] “The interest in certification for PV installers remains strong – in fact, we receive phone calls and Emails daily inquiring about when the next certification exam is going to be,” said NABCEP Executive Director Pete Sheehan. Candidates from 24 states sent in applications to the NABCEP for this most recent exam, which was administered at 22 locations across the country. “We are pleased that so many applicants with a wide variety of PV installation backgrounds from all across the country decided to make the effort to become NABCEP certified,” said Ezra Auerbach, Chair of the Board. “I believe that the consistently high response rate for NABCEP Certification reflects a growing desire of highly qualified solar professionals to distinguish themselves.” NABCEP scheduled its next national Solar PV Installer Certification Exam for Saturday, September 18, 2004. Exam locations will be determined based upon geographical distribution of candidates to minimize travel time to exam sites. Applications for the exam can be found at through the link below.
