Candidate Calls for National RE Strategy

March 25, 2004 [] Stephen Harper, a candidate for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada, says the role of renewable energy technologies should be expanded. His policy platform says the best role for government is to ensure the price of energy reflects all costs, including environmental, and advocates the use of market mechanisms like emissions permits. Harper also says he will work with the provinces to develop a national alternative energy strategy.
