– The California Fuel Cell Partnership has released a market study on the commercialization options and fuel scenarios for fuel cell vehicles. The principal goal of the study (Bringing Fuel Cell Vehicles to Market: Scenarios & Challenges with Fuel Alternatives) is to identify challenges and solutions for fuel cell vehicles using hydrogen, ethanol, methanol and gasoline. – Ballard Power Systems of Canada has launched its hydrogen powered Nexa™ fuel cell module, which measures 24x13x10 inches. The PEM fuel cell can generate 1.2 kW of non-regulated DC electrical power. The unit can be integrated into UPS systems and emergency power generators. – Connecticut governor John Rowland welcomes the decision by Proton Energy Systems to build a 100,000 ft2 facility at Rocky Hill to accommodate its projected growth in the alternative energy sector. The building will include space for manufacturing, research and product development activities. The company develops and manufactures Proton Exchange Membrane electrochemical products employed in hydrogen generating devices and regenerative fuel cell systems.
