Biodiesel Included in Clean Bus Grants

Chicago, Illinois – June 30, 2004 [] Diesel might be the best way to fuel a school bus, but the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is trying to make the process a little cleaner with the Clean School Bus USA program. While some schools have been awarded grants to retrofit buses with cleaner burning engines, EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt awarded a grant to Manchester Community Schools for a two-year supply of biodiesel fuel for 18 buses belonging to the school system. The Manchester funds were included in a total grant of $165,357 to two Michigan school districts.
