BC Hydro plans power purchases

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] BC Hydro says it will issue a series of open calls to the private sector to acquire as much as 2000 GWh of new energy over the next two years. The utility, which says its goal is electricity self-sufficiency, expects to issue the requests in spring 2005 and fall 2006. The calls will be open to all projects, including renewable energy, and will include a streamlined process and contract for smaller proposals. Evaluation will include adjustments for the relative value of different product attributes, including low environmental impact and GHG emissions.
