Ballard Fuel Cells Show Up Down Under

Perth, Western Australia – September 16, 2004 [] Ballard Power Systems and the Australian Government announced a demonstration fuel cell program for the city of Perth at the Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Futures Conference this week. The Western Australia Department for Planning and Infrastructure showcased the three fuel-cell Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses at the conference, and allowed people attending the event to get a close look at the vehicles. Minister of the department Alannah Mac Tiernan said the program will benefit the region’s Sustainable Transport Energy Program. Perth is the 11th city to demonstrate the technology offered by Ballard and Mercedes-Benz. Beijing, China is scheduled to begin a fuel cell program with Ballard in 2005.
