Advanced Energy Inc. Files for Bankruptcy

November 12, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] Advanced Energy Inc. (AE), a manufacturer of stand-alone and grid-tie inverter products, has sought relief under federal code Chapter 7 bankruptcy, effectively closing its operation based in Wilton, New Hampshire. The company manufactured the popular GC-1000 grid-tie inverter and had recently released a 5 kW multi-mode inverter for both standalone and grid-tie applications. The company had reportedly been searching for a suitor or cash infusion partnership for several months before it announced its closing. An AE high profile investor and customer had been fuel cell maker Plug Power, for whom AE provided specialized inverters.
