Wood Group GTS to equip Mojave Solar Project

Wood Group GTS won a $2 million contract ton install a pair of General Electric (GE) A-14 steam turbines and related power generation equipment at the Mojave Solar Project, San Bernardino County, California.

Under this contract Wood Group GTS is responsible for equipment installation, including precision alignment of the ‘center-line’ between steam turbine and turbo-generator. Completion of this crucial task will ensure smooth start-up of the power plant and minimize risk associated with the operation of high-speed rotating equipment.

The 250 MW Mojave Solar Project is one of several large-scale renewable energy initiatives that will enable the state of California to secure one-third of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2020.

In addition, Wood Group GTS will perform final connection of essential services for successful operation of each turbine, rechecking all critical dimensions during the start-up and commissioning phase of both units.
