Vaasa, Finland With its solar installation orders from the Czech Republic now topping 100 MW while Italy has contributed several megawatts, Vacon is eyeing new markets and hoping to increase its sales in the sector.
“Towards the year-end, Vacon will establish its presence in the solar energy business in various parts of the world,” said Olli Tevä, marketing director for Vacon’s renewable energy applications.
The firm boosted its solar know-how this year by acquiring a Spanish solar energy inverter maker – a move reflected in the Vacon 8000 Solar, a flagship product for solar applications from 10 kW to 1 MW.
In addition to orders from Italy and the Czech Republic, the company reports that it recently won its first solar orders from Belgium.
Wind power’s expansion should also open up opportunities for products such as the recently launched Vacon 8000 Wind, currently available up to 2 MW but expected to cater for higher power in the future, said the company.
“The growth in the wind power markets in Europe and USA has been steady. In China, however, the demand is stronger,” said Tevä.
Vacon’s technology can be used in both full-power converter solutions and double-fed induction generator technology.
