White Plains, N.Y., October 16, 2001 – U. S. Energy Systems, Inc., an independent power producer of clean, efficient energy, announced name changes for four of its subsidiaries.
These changes to existing operating subsidiaries and recent acquisitions are effective immediately.
They have been made to move the company forward as one entity and are expected to enhance awareness and build the identity of U.S. Energy Systems.
The four new names are: U.S. Energy Biogas Corp., formerly Zahren Alternative Power Corporation; U.S. Energy Environmental Corp., formerly American Enviro-Services, Inc.; U.S. Energy Geothermal LLC, formerly known as Steamboat 1 and Steamboat 1A; and USE Canada Energy Corp., formerly known as Trigen Energy Canada.
Goran Mornhed, president and chief operating officer, said, “This unifying step helps us in our efforts to reach out to prospective customers, partners, investors and employees, as we grow in size, scope and capabilities.”
In May of this year, U.S. Energy Systems and Cinergy Solutions acquired Zahren Alternative Power with its portfolio of 26 landfill-to-energy projects located in ten states and a combined heat and power project in Massachusetts.
In June, the Company acquired Trigen Energy Canada, which includes two district energy systems, one in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, which uses biomass (renewable) fuel and serves provincial government and commercial buildings.
The second is in London, Ontario, and serves downtown commercial and government buildings employing an award-winning combined heat and power facility. The other two name changes are for longer-time holdings of the Company, U.S. Energy Environmental Corp., which was acquired by U.S. Energy Systems in 1997 and U.S. Energy Geothermal, which was purchased in 1996.
