Uni-Solar Doubles PV Sales to German Firm

September 1, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] United Solar Ovonic landed a large order for 750 kW of the company’s solar photovoltaic products for delivery to the Germany-based Alwitra. This latest order effectively doubles Alwitra’s demand from Uni-Solar to final shipments totaling 1.5 MW for 2004. Alwitra specializes in building-integrated PV products and markets Uni-Solar’s thin-film PV under the brand name Evalon-Solar 408 and 204. Alwitra said they were the first company in Germany in the flat-roof business that integrated PV modules into flexible roofing membranes with their first marketing of Evalon-Solar in 1999. Differing from the traditional crystalline technology, which typically utilizes heavy, glass-mounted panels, the Uni-solar’s products are flexible, durable, lightweight, aesthetically pleasing and easy to install – especially on curved surfaces, said the company.
