U.S. Solar Industry to Unveil Solar Road Map

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Next week, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the U.S. solar industry’s main trade and lobby group will unveil a report detailing what current industry leaders are proposing to expand the nation’s use of solar energy. The report, “Our Solar Power Future: The US Photovoltaic Roadmap for 2030 and Beyond” will cover such topics as energy security, job creation, natural gas impacts and more. Through the report, industry leaders have set out a path to expand domestic energy production and reclaim America’s position at the forefront of the global solar industry. The PV Roadmap outlines the state of solar power today, the opportunity the U.S. has over the next 10 years, and a plan for that future – including targeted incentives for market expansion and increased R&D. “Our Solar Power Future” can play a significant role in meeting America’s energy challenge — decreasing the need for energy imports, providing half of all new electricity generation by 2025, and employing 260,000 American jobs by 2030. A media preview will take place Tuesday, January 25, 2005 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at SEIA’s Conference Room. A capitol Hill briefing will be presented by SEIA and the House Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
