U.S. Air Force Visits Carmanah Headquarters

May 6, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] Warner Robins Air Force Base of the United States of America recently paid a visit to Carmanah’s headquarters in Victoria, British Columbia. Meetings with Carmanah’s Executive Management, Engineering and the Aviation Lighting Division focused on the opportunities and needs of the Air Force’s emergency airfield lighting systems. Over the next three years, the US Air Force will have to replace their entire inventory of emergency airfield lighting systems for bare base applications. Carmanah is currently developing a new wireless solar-powered LED system in order to fulfill the military’s needs by 2005-2006. Research and development opportunities are scheduled for 2004-2005 with upcoming testing of prototype systems in the not too distant future. Under its GSA contract, Carmanah is able to supply military requirements without the need to bid for its equipment.
