The five U.S. states leading the way in incorporating renewable energy have been named as Arizona, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, and New York.
California’s goal is to have additional 20,000 megawatts of solar energy by 2020. Governor Jerry Brown wants to take the state’s clean energy plan to the next level.
Colorado plans to increase its solar energy industry to provide more jobs and revenue for the state. Increasing the state’s renewable energy capacity by 20 percent will add at least 4,000 new jobs and $1.9 billion to the GDP.
Massachusetts installed 29.8 megawatts of solar energy capacity last year. Not only that, the state was several incentive programs such as the Commonwealth Solar Stimulus and the 2008 Green Communities Act.New York plans to continue with its Power NY program that replaces old power plants with renewable energy plants. It has a renewable energy credits program and it plans to increase the its use of solar thermal technology.
