California, United States [RenewableEnergyWorld.com] Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital announced it will become the first healthcare facility within the Sutter Health system to install a solar power system. Sutter Auburn Faith has made plans to install a 736-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system that will meet about 50 percent of the hospital’s power needs.
SPG Solar will design and construct the system, which will include an elevated installation in the employee parking lot and a ground-mounted tracking system on an adjacent property. Sutter Auburn Faith has partnered with Tioga Energy to remove all upfront costs and ongoing maintenance requirements for the solar power system.
“Over the past few years we’ve been looking for innovative ways to strategically manage our energy and help the environment,” said Mitch Hanna, chief administrative office for Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital. “As health care professionals it is important that we promote good health in the community and support a healthy environment as well.”
Under the terms of a SurePath Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Tioga Energy will finance, own and operate the system, and Sutter Auburn Faith will purchase the power generated at predictable rates for the contract term.
