Tata BP Solar Invests $100 M Expansion for Solar Plant

Bangalore, India [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Tata BP Solar, the Bangalore-based joint venture of Tata Power and BP Solar, has inaugurated its 36-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) production line, a US$100 million investment for the next year and a half. The new production line more than doubles Tata BP Solar’s cell manufacturing capacity for its planned 300 MW plant that will serve both the Indian and global markets, and will require a total investment of US$300 million by 2010. The next phase of the expansion is planned for 128 MW of cell manufacturing capacity to be added during 2007-2008.
