SVTC Technologies named Gunter Ziegenbalg the president of SVTC Solar. Ziegenbalg will grow SVTC Solar’s global solar business and define, establish and oversee the photovoltaic manufacturing development facility.
August 29, 2011 — Nanotechnology development company SVTC Technologies named Gunter Ziegenbalg the president of SVTC Solar. Ziegenbalg will grow SVTC Solar’s global solar business and define, establish and oversee the photovoltaic manufacturing development facility recently funded by the Department of Energy (DOE).
SVTC Solar provides access to manufacturing and technology development services for the entire value chain of solar module manufacturing, qualification, test and financing.
Ziegenbalg has led teams in solar and semiconductor industries, particularly developing new products with a focus on time-to-market, according to Bert Bruggeman, CEO of SVTC Technologies. Ziegenbalg held management and executive roles at Moncada Energy Group, Italy, where he led the successful volume production ramp of a 50MW thin film solar line and Signet Solar, where he built the first SunFab Gen8.5 production line, ramping to volume production in 14 months. His 18 years in the semiconductor industry included president and EVP, foundry operations, of ZMD America Inc., as well as several positions in IC design, technology development, manufacturing and technical marketing.
Ziegenbalg holds a master’s degree in nuclear physics from the University of Technology, Dresden and an Executive MBA degree from Pepperdine University.
