Suntech & Standard Solar Reach 5-MW Solar Panel Deal

Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. and Standard Solar Inc. have reached a new agreement under which Suntech will supply up to 5 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaic solar panels to the Maryland-based solar developer and installer during 2009.

Standard Solar said that it is looking forward to deploying Suntech’s panels in solar systems that deliver cost-effective power solutions.

“Partnering with Suntech, a top-tier manufacturer offering a broad assortment of high-quality solar panels, better equips Standard Solar to fulfill its rapidly growing customer requirements from New Jersey and Pennsylvania to North Carolina and Virginia,” said Scott Wiater, vice president of Procurement at Standard Solar.

Recently, Standard Solar helped Kelly & Sons Electrical Construction source its electricity supply through a power purchase agreement with Washington Gas Energy Services. The 150-kilowatt system will be owned by Washington Gas Energy Services. Kelly will purchase electricity produced by the system for 20 years under the PPA.
