Suntech Reaches Polysilicon & Wafer Agreements with GCL Silicon

Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. announced that it has signed new supply agreements with GCL Silicon Technology Holdings Inc. Under the terms of the supply agreements, GCL Silicon will supply Suntech with 9,420 metric tons of polysilicon and 1.1 gigawatts (GW) of silicon wafers from 2008 to 2012.

“GCL Silicon is pleased to become a polysilicon and wafer supplier to Suntech. We view Suntech as an important strategic partner and a leading solar cell and module manufacturer. We look forward to developing a close relationship with them and are committed to expanding our polysilicon and wafer production capacity to meet the growing demands of customers such as Suntech,” said Hunter Jiang, president of GCL Silicon.

Suntech has recently signed more than 200 megawatts (MW) worth of fixed price, fixed volume sales contracts for 2009 and plans to finalize approximately 500 MW of additional sales contracts by the end of September 2008.
