Suniva & Solon Announce US $500M Supply Deal

Suniva Inc. has signed a long-term customer agreement with Solon AG, which extends through 2012, during which time Suniva will deliver more than US $500 million worth of high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon solar cells to Solon.

The deal with Solon closely follows Suniva’s significant wafer supply agreement with REC, one of the world’s largest producers of polysilicon and wafers for solar applications. Suniva will produce and ship its solar cells to Solon from the company’s new manufacturing facility in metro Atlanta. Suniva’s plant has a preliminary capacity of 32 megawatts (MW) on the first line, with additional lines planned that will add more than 130 MW of additional capacity over the next two years.

“As one of the highest quality solar module manufacturers in the world, Solon is and will continue to be a strong industry partner for Suniva,” said John Baumstark, CEO of Suniva. “This agreement marks another milestone in our growth strategy as we solidify Suniva’s powerful position in the solar supply chain.”
