Students’ Design Synergizes the Sun’s Power

[] Cal Poly’s all-solar house in the international 2005 Solar Decathlon competition is now taking shape due to support from industry partners donating solar-friendly systems, energy-efficient materials and funding. When the house is finished, Cal Poly’s Solar Decathlon student team will transport it to the National Mall in Washington, DC, to compete with 17 other universities October 7-16. These building industry professionals of the future selected materials with energy conservation benefits that serve as examples of sustainable uses of natural resources. The energy-efficiency competition is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
