Special Feature: Solar in New Orleans

At the beginning of March, Sharp Solar held its customer conference titled, “SOLA in NOLA.” Before the conference began, the company donated 10 1.5-kilowatt (kW) photovoltaic systems and invited 10 companies to donate their time and resources to install the systems in the Lower 9th Ward. Sharp worked with the Holy Cross Neighborhood Association, The Alliance for Affordable Energy, Williams Architects and the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources on the project. The goal was to create a green example for homeowners and community leaders rebuilding after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Inside Renewable Energy traveled down to New Orleans to check out the installations and talk with the homeowners. Stephen Lacey brought back this report. Inside Renewable Energy offers the latest in renewable energy news and information.
